Celebrations of the 83rd anniversary of the founding of the Libyan Army kicked off in al-shohadaa’ Square in the capital, Tripoli, this evening, Wednesday, in the presence of the President of the Presidential Council, Muhammad Al-Manfi, and
members of the Council Abdullah Al-Lafi and Musa Al-Koni, the Supreme Commander of the Libyan Army and the President of the National Unity Government, Minister of Defense Abdul Hamid Al-Dabaiba, members of the House of Representatives and the State and a number of Ministers and officials, the Chief of the General Staff of the Libyan Army, Lieutenant General Muhammad al-Haddad, the commanders of the Special Staff, the head of the General Intelligence Service, the commanders of the military colleges, a large number of Libyan army officers, and guests from the political corps accredited in Libya.
The celebration of the anniversary of the founding of the army witnessed a solemn military parade in Martyrs’ Square, in which 14,000 military personnel representing all sectors of the Libyan army from the students of military colleges and units of various types of the Libyan army. While the cadets of the army were parading in front of the main platform, boats from the navy were saluting the celebration on the anniversary of the founding of the Libyan army.
The Chief of the General Staff of the Libyan Army, Lieutenant General Muhammad Al-Haddad, saluted the Libyan Army on the day of its founding, calling for efforts to build its capabilities in a way that qualifies it to perform its mission in preserving the homeland and preserving its borders. He stands alone on the battle fronts, but an army and a people stand behind him, supporting him and backing him to protect sovereignty and dignity.”
For his part, the head of the National Unity Government, Minister of Defense, Abdul Hamid al-Dabaiba, confirmed that the establishment of the Libyan army was the culmination of decades of struggle and struggle waged by fathers and grandfathers against the occupiers.
Al-Dabaiba said in his speech, "The Libyan army was established to be a shield and a sword... a shield that protects the country and takes care of its interests, and a sword that cuts the throats of those who covet our bounties." He added, "This majestic scene today sends a message that the time of war is over without going back, and the Libyan will not raise his weapon in the face of his brother." Never, and that the barrels of guns will only be aimed at the enemies.
Al-Dabaiba explained that the money of the Libyan people will be spent on development, grants, and the lives of the people, and not on killing them, stressing that the battle of construction and stability is our main battle now.
The Prime Minister added that the Libyan people chose their path, which is elections and stability, and the years have proven that other than this path is an illusion, calling on all citizens to be a unified army from the city to the tribe.
The Supreme Commander of the Libyan Army, Muhammad Al-Manfi, saluted the sons of the Libyan army, describing the ninth of August as an occasion that bears all the meanings of redemption and sacrifice, around which all Libyans gathered around the whole country.
Al-Munfi said in his speech, "We proudly remember the immortal days that this army made with the hands of its sons.
You are the fortress that preserves the pride and dignity of the homeland and the bridge that will cross us to safety and our army will remain the symbol of Libya's unity.
