Pakistan successfully concluded the Pakistan International Maritime Expo & Conference (PIMEC-2025), held at the Karachi Expo Centre from November 3 to 6, 2025, marking an exceptionally organized and highly successful event

A total of 83 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed between local and international entities, with a combined value of PKR 76 billion, equivalent to approximately USD 273.6 million.

Closing Ceremony and Key Highlights

The closing ceremony was attended by Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, who delivered the concluding address announcing several key initiatives — most notably, the establishment of Pakistan’s first “Green Ship Recycling and Repair Yard” at Port Qasim.

Vice Admiral Muhammad Faisal Abbasi, Commander Karachi, praised the delegates, experts, academics, and exhibitors, describing PIMEC as “an ideal platform for the exchange of ideas and the opening of new horizons for a thriving maritime industry.”

  • Regional pavilions, such as Balochistan’s, showcased and sold local marine products like olive oil and honey.

Strategic Importance

The conclusion of PIMEC 2025 demonstrates Pakistan’s strong commitment to advancing the “Blue Economy” and strengthening its maritime and technological capabilities.

It also sends a powerful message to international investors that Pakistan aims to become a regional hub for the maritime sector — not only in port operations, but also in maritime technology and services.

The outcomes of PIMEC 2025 lay a solid foundation for future projects, including new ports, the expansion of the national shipping fleet, and the transformation of existing ports into smart and green ports.
