Thales is presenting a range of solutions at the ongoing DIMDEX targeted at the needs of the Qatar Armed Forces to develop a comprehensive air defence system that can protect their citizens, airspace and assets against all types of threats.
Thales has partnered with the Qatar Armed Forces for over 40 years. The company also has a specific strategy for the state of Qatar, which is to go along with the Qatari technical track for technology transfer, and production, to create the ecosystem, and to employ in the Middle East.
Thales is the only system of systems integrator in air surveillance and air defence, mastering the full chain of command from detection, and identification to neutralisation. Thales has developed an integrated Counter Unmanned Aircraft System designed to detect, identify, track and neutralize drones flying in civilian airspace to protect sensitive sites such as airports, sports arenas, critical infrastructure and large facilities. Thales C-UAS solutions can incorporate electromagnetic signal jamming, interception by a swarm of drones and directed energy weapons, to neutralize rogue drones, or in the case of airports alert the necessary authorities
The Thales ForceShield is a fully integrated and interoperable combat-proven Ground-Based Air Defence solution, designed to protect forces, citizens and vital assets against increasingly diverse threats – from low-altitude air threats such as UAS to helicopters, fighter ground attacks or cruise missiles. Whereas for long-range engagements, the SAMP/T integrated collaborative combat systems for IAMD (integrated, anti-aircraft and anti-ballistic missile defence) help protect large areas of vital installations, populations and troops against the high-end spectrum of air threats, cruise missiles and even hypersonic ballistics.
